Adenike Oshinowo, popularly known as “Nike Oshinowo”, is known as one of Nigeria’s foremost celebrities. Born on the 19th of December 1965 to Elizabeth Titilayo Oshinowo and the late Samson Akanji Oshinowo, she graduated from the University of Essex with a degree in Politics.
In 1991, she was crowned the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MBGN) after participating in the pageant organized by the Silverbird group. In that capacity, she represented Nigeria at the Miss World pageant as well as other pageants. Almost two decades after her successful reign, Nike remains one of the most recognized women in Nigeria. Following the MBGN experience, Nike Oshinowo delved into various business ventures. She played a pivotal role in the evolution of the Nigerian beauty industry by creating Nigeria’s first-day spa: Skin Deep, which she managed for approximately 10 years.
Nike Oshinowo also became the CE/Creative Director of the Miss Nigeria Competition, the most sought-after beauty title, and premier event in Nigeria. Under her stewardship, the 55-year-old institution was strategically rebranded, placing the competition once again as a premier world-class brand.
Under her leadership, Nike Oshinowo Incorporated was responsible for the conceptualization, marketing and sales of a range of lifestyle products which include: a fitness DVD, perfume and a haircare and skincare range. Nike Oshinowo Incorporated was set up to promote a beautiful, positive and healthy lifestyle to Nigerian women. Beyond her desire to promote a healthy and fit lifestyle, Nike is an outspoken advocate for women’s health issues and has openly shared her battle with endometriosis - a medical condition that affects women all over the world. She is also actively involved in educational and non-profit projects.
Nike Oshinowo currently serves as the Managing Director/CEO of three companies – AOE Events & Entertainment Limited, QHI International Limited and Capital Commodities Limited, with business interests and clients spanning across different sectors of the Nigerian economy.
Through her companies and work, Nike continues to spread her message of the importance of physical wellness and the advancing of Nigeria’s women through education and financial independence.
